Why we built this

We are a small team of software developers and people who have sat on the other side of the hiring table — screening resumes for campus drives, startups and IT services companies. Again and again we saw talented candidates rejected for reasons that had nothing to do with their ability: a two-column template that the applicant tracking system read as gibberish, a scanned PDF with no readable text, or a skills section that said “MS Office” when the job asked for “Advanced Excel”.

Most ATS checkers we found either hid the results behind a signup, asked for a phone number, or pushed a paid plan after one scan. Freshers — the people who need help the most — were the least able to pay. So we built ATS Scorer: a checker that is 100% free, needs no signup and has no limits.

What the checker does

When you upload your resume, we extract its text the same way most applicant tracking systems do, and run more than 40 transparent, rule-based checks across five areas: keywords, sections, content quality, formatting and contact details. If you paste a job description, we compare your resume against the top keywords in that job post. Every point you lose becomes a clear tip in plain English, sorted by priority.

We deliberately use rules instead of a black-box AI score. That means you can understand why you got your score and what to change. You can read the details on our home page and in the complete guide to ATS resumes.

Our privacy promise

Your resume contains personal information, so we treat it with care. Files are processed in memory and discarded immediately after scoring. We never store your resume, never log its contents and never sell data. You don't need an account. Read the full privacy policy.

How we keep it free

The site is supported by a small number of non-intrusive ads and by affiliate links to tools we think are genuinely useful for job seekers. We may earn a commission if you buy through those links, at no extra cost to you. Ads never cover the upload tool, and we do not use pop-unders or push-notification spam.

An honest limitation

No tool can show you the exact score a specific company's ATS will give your resume — each system and each recruiter search is different. Our score is a well-informed estimate built on the factors that matter almost everywhere. Use it to remove obvious problems, then tailor your resume for each job. See our disclaimer for details.
