This free ATS resume checker for data analysts compares your resume with the 20 keywords that appear most often in Data Analyst job posts, then checks your sections, formatting, contact details and bullet points. Paste a real job description in the tool for an exact match.
Data analyst roles are among the most applied-for jobs in India, and almost every posting asks for the same core trio: SQL, Excel and a BI tool such as Power BI or Tableau. The ATS checks for these tools by name, plus Python or R for larger datasets and statistics terms like A/B testing. Recruiters then look for business impact — which decision your analysis changed, how much time a dashboard saved, or which metric improved. Analysts who describe insights rather than tasks get far more interview calls.

Sections to include in a Data Analyst resume
Use standard headings so the ATS can map your information correctly. For data analysts, these sections matter most:
- Summary: Name SQL, Excel and your BI tool, plus a business result such as revenue found or hours saved.
- Skills: Group into Querying, Spreadsheets, BI/Visualisation, Programming and Statistics.
- Projects: Show 2–3 end-to-end analyses on real datasets (Kaggle, government data) with a dashboard link.
- Experience: Each bullet: data size, tool, insight, and the business decision or metric it changed.
- Certifications: Google Data Analytics, Microsoft PL-300 (Power BI) and Tableau certifications are well recognised.
Common Data Analyst resume mistakes
- Listing tools without showing what was analysed or decided.
- Writing "made reports" instead of naming the KPI, audience and impact.
- No dashboard or portfolio link for a visual role.
- Leaving out SQL depth (joins, window functions, CTEs) that JDs explicitly ask for.
- Adding machine learning buzzwords for a pure analyst role, which can confuse recruiters.

Why it works: it starts with an action verb, names the tools a Data Analyst ATS search looks for, and ends with a measurable result. Rewrite your own bullets in the same shape — action + tool or skill + result. Find more examples on our Data Analyst keywords page and ready-to-edit Data Analyst resume summaries.
