Resume Objective for Freshers: 15 Examples That Work
How to write a resume objective as a fresher, with 15 examples for B.Tech, B.Com, BBA, MBA, BCA and more — plus mistakes to avoid.
"Seeking a challenging position in a reputed organisation where I can utilise my skills for the growth of the company." If your resume starts with this line, you're in very large company — and that's exactly the problem. Recruiters have read it thousands of times, and it tells them nothing about you.
The opening lines of a fresher resume matter more than most students think. They're the first thing the recruiter reads, and a natural place for the keywords applicant tracking systems look for. This guide shows you how to write an opening that works, with 15 examples you can adapt.
Objective or summary?
A traditional objective says what you want. A summary says what you offer. For freshers, the best approach is a blend — sometimes called a "career objective" or "profile" — that is really a short summary with a target role:
[Degree + year] skilled in [2–3 skills from the job]. [One project, internship or achievement with a number]. Looking for [target role].
Two to three lines, 30–60 words. No "I", no clichés.
Why the old-style objective fails
- It's generic. Every applicant writes the same sentence.
- It focuses on you, not the employer. "Where I can grow" doesn't answer "why hire you?"
- It has no keywords. The ATS finds nothing searchable in it.
- It wastes the most valuable space on your resume.
