How recruiters find resumes on Naukri

Most recruiters don't scroll through applications one by one. They search Naukri's resume database and their own applicant tracking system with keywords and filters: skills, job titles, total experience, current location, notice period, expected CTC, education and how recently a profile was active. Your resume and profile fields together decide whether you appear in those results.

That's why two candidates with the same experience can get very different numbers of calls. One writes “MS Office, reports”; the other writes “Advanced Excel (Power Query, pivot tables), Power BI dashboards” — the exact words recruiters type. This checker shows you which of those words your resume is missing.

What your Naukri resume score measures

  • Keywords: skills and tools from the job description (or common skills for your field) found in your resume.
  • Sections: standard headings such as Summary, Experience, Education, Skills and Projects that parsers recognise.
  • Content quality: bullet points with numbers, action verbs, the right length and no first-person writing.
  • Formatting: single-column layout, readable text, no images or icons, consistent dates.
  • Contact details: phone, email, LinkedIn and city — the details recruiters filter and call on.

Aim for 75 or higher (65+ is strong for freshers). Read what a good ATS score is for details.

Naukri resume checker FAQ

Is this the official Naukri resume score?

No. This is an independent free tool and is not affiliated with Naukri.com or Info Edge. It estimates how well your resume will be read and matched by recruiter searches and applicant tracking systems, which is what decides whether your Naukri applications get noticed.

How do I improve my resume score for Naukri?

Use a single-column, text-based PDF or DOCX; add the exact skills from job posts to your resume and to Naukri's Key Skills field; write bullet points with numbers; and keep your resume headline specific. Then re-check your resume here and update your Naukri profile.

Which format should I upload to Naukri: PDF or Word?

Naukri accepts both. A text-based PDF exported from Word or Google Docs keeps your layout intact; a DOCX is also fine. Never upload a scanned resume or a design-tool PDF where the text is an image, because recruiters' searches cannot read it.

Why am I not getting calls from Naukri?

The most common reasons are missing keywords (recruiters search Naukri's database by skills), an incomplete or outdated profile, a vague headline, an unrealistic expected salary or notice period that filters you out, and a resume format that is hard to read. Fix the high-priority tips this checker gives you first.

How often should I update my Naukri profile?

Make a genuine update every week or two: add a skill, a project or a refreshed resume. Recruiters often filter for recently active profiles, so regular updates help you appear in more searches.
